The Marathon KERA270BRE is the mid-capacity workhorse in Marathon’s KERA crack trailer lineup. Built around a 270-gallon oil-jacketed vat, it targets the contractor who has outgrown a smaller melter but does not need, or want to tow, a full highway-scale machine. The extra capacity over the 180-gallon model means more linear feet of crack sealed between refills, which is where mid-size and growing crews recover real production time on parking lots, commercial sites, and municipal roadways.
Importantly, the KERA270BRE delivers that added capacity on the same towable platform as the 180. It runs on a tandem axle rated for 10,400 lbs (4,717 kg) with four 225/75/R15 tires, so a contractor can step up in volume without stepping up to a heavier axle rating or larger tires. For fleets standardizing tow vehicles and trailers, that consistency simplifies logistics.
Like every KERA crack trailer, the 270 is a complete applicator. The electrically heated hose and wand heats, melts, and applies hot poured rubberized crack sealant directly from the machine, eliminating separate pour pots and the transfer steps that slow a crew down. A Digital Automatic Temperature Control System manages both the heat transfer oil and the sealant temperature, which matters more as batch size grows, since consistent heat across a larger volume is what keeps application quality even from the first crack of the day to the last.
The oil-jacketed vat, wrapped in ceramic fibre insulation, provides even indirect heat and minimizes heat loss so the burner works less to hold temperature on a bigger charge of material. Power comes from a 23 hp liquid-cooled, electric-start Kohler diesel engine and a single 340,000 BTU diesel burner. An onboard 3,000W generator heats the delivery hose and supplies 120 VAC power on site, while a 120V 1,500W overnight heater and recirculation port shorten daily start-up.
Construction matches the rest of the line: minimum 10-gauge steel, fully welded, on heavy 6-inch channel with gusseting for strength. Reverse-loading anti-splash curbside doors make loading safer, and an operator alert horn plus on-demand pumping support high-production sealing. At 216 inches long, the KERA270BRE is longer than the 180 but keeps the same 80-inch width and 87-inch height.
For Canadian crack sealing contractors scaling up their operations, the KERA270BRE is often the sweet spot: meaningfully more capacity, familiar towing, and the full oil-jacketed applicator system in one crack trailer. Roadly suppliess and supports the KERA270BRE for contractors, property managers, and public works teams across Canada.
