    Frequently Asked Questions

What is ISP Waterborne Traffic Paint (Yellow) used for?

Yellow ISP Arcticline waterborne traffic paint is used for markings that require high visibility and a cautionary colour, including curb painting, fire lane markings, no-parking zones, centerlines, and directional arrows. It's suited to parking lots, municipal roads, highways, and airport surfaces, and is applied with airless or air atomized line striping equipment.

How is this different from a standard traffic paint?

The paint uses FlowGuard double-filtration technology, which removes fine particulates before they reach your sprayer tip. That means fewer clogs and filter changes during a job, which matters most on longer runs where a clogged tip can mean an uneven line or a full stop to clear it. It's purpose-built to run cleanly through Titan and Graco line painting machines.

    How fast does it dry?

It dries to touch in under 5 minutes under normal conditions. Drying slows in high humidity above 65 percent, so plan striping windows around weather rather than the clock alone.

What application conditions does it need?

Apply at temperatures above 10 C. New asphalt or concrete needs a minimum 30-day cure before painting, and application should be avoided if rain is in the forecast. Don't heat the application system above 45 C, since this is a ready-to-use formula, not one requiring thinning or heating to spray temperature.

Do I need to thin the paint before use?

No. This is a ready-to-use product. Do not thin with water, as this affects film build, dry time, and reflectivity if beads are applied. Mix for 5 to 10 minutes before loading it into your sprayer.

Is it approved for government and municipal contracts?

Yes. It carries Alberta Transportation approval, MPI (Master Painters Institute) approval, BC Ministry of Transportation approval, and Manitoba Transportation approval, making it suitable for public works and provincial contract specifications.

Do I need to add glass beads?

Glass beads are optional and depend on whether the job spec requires retroreflectivity. If beads are used, apply them at a minimum rate of 0.6 g per litre of wet paint, with the paint applied at a recommended wet film thickness of 15 mils.

What's the VOC content, and is it environmentally friendly?

VOC content is below 150 g/L, and the formula is waterborne rather than solvent based, which is why it's positioned as the environmentally friendly option between the two paint types Roadly carries.

How is it packaged, and does it come in other colours?

This SKU (ISP-WB-Y) ships in a 20L pail. The same formulation is also available in white for parking stall lines and general markings. Full pallet pricing (18 pails or more) is available by calling 587-882-7623 or emailing support@roadly.ca.

      Martin

I could not find paint anywhere this season, and Roadly had ISP paint in stock so I decided to give it a try. Working with waterborne took a bit of getting used to, but overall it’s a great product. I ran ISP waterborne in my 3500 all season, and was very happy with it. Thank for the help and recommendation Michael! I will be running ISP waterborne paint for my jobs again next season.
