Ennis Flint Water-Based Blue Traffic Paint

Original price was: $209.79.Current price is: $199.95.

Ennis-Flint Blue Waterborne Traffic Paint is a high-solids acrylic latex pavement marking paint designed for accessible parking stalls, fire lanes, and other blue pavement markings on asphalt and concrete.

  • Fast-drying acrylic latex formula reaches a no-pickup condition in under 10 minutes, minimizing lane and lot downtime.
  • Built for high-traffic durability so markings hold up under repeated vehicle and foot traffic in parking lots, roadways, and commercial properties.
  • Water-based, low-VOC composition simplifies cleanup and reduces environmental impact versus solvent-based alternatives.
  • Bead-compatible for reflective marking applications where nighttime visibility is a requirement.

    Description

Ennis-Flint Blue Waterborne Traffic Paint is a 100% acrylic polymer latex pavement marking paint built for jobs where blue is the specified colour, most often accessible (handicap) parking stalls, fire lane boundaries, and other regulatory pavement markings on asphalt and concrete.

This is a high-solids formula suitable for both airless and air-atomized striping equipment, and it can be applied up to 22 wet mils thick, giving contractors room to adjust film thickness for the job at hand. One gallon covers approximately 320 linear feet of 4-inch stripe at 15 mils, or 400 linear feet at 12 mils, so crews can plan material needs accurately before heading to the job site.

Dry time is a strong point of this formula. Without beads, it reaches a no-pickup condition in under 10 minutes at 15 mils under standard conditions (77°F, 50% humidity). With glass beads applied at 6 lbs per gallon or more to a 15-mil wet line, it dries to a no-track condition in under 2 minutes, and a 25-mil line dries to no-track in under 3 minutes under the same conditions. That turnaround matters for contractors trying to minimize traffic control time on active roads and lots. Keep in mind dry time increases for nighttime applications and when re-striping over existing paint.

As a waterborne product, this paint reduces and cleans up with water, which simplifies equipment maintenance and reduces reliance on solvents. If viscosity needs minor adjustment for your striping equipment, the manufacturer’s data sheet permits thinning up to 5% with acetone, though any thinned paint should be used immediately rather than stored. Since it’s water-based, this paint also does not sustain combustion, an added safety consideration for storage and transport.

VOC content for this paint comes in below 100 g/L, well under the 150 g/L federal maximum, which is worth noting for contractors working on projects with air quality compliance requirements. It performs equally well on asphalt and concrete, and holds up under both standard beading and pressure-applied glass bead systems for retroreflectivity.

Application temperature range for this waterborne formula is above 5 degrees celsius. In Alberta and other cold-climate markets, that generally puts the practical striping window from late spring through early fall. For jobs outside that temperature range, a solvent-based traffic paint is the better choice, and Roadly carries options for that as well.

Surface prep affects adhesion and longevity. Pavement should be clean and free of oil, grease, dust, loose gravel, and any flaking existing coating before application. New asphalt, concrete, or seal-coated surfaces should cure for a minimum of two weeks before striping, and any conflicting existing markings should be at least 90 percent removed by an approved mechanical method rather than chemical stripping.

Unopened, this paint has a shelf life of one year from the date of manufacture when stored properly, meaning indoors or covered, above 5 degrees celsius, and out of direct sunlight.

What is blue traffic paint used for?

Blue traffic paint is most commonly used to mark accessible (handicap) parking stalls and fire lane boundaries. Some municipalities also specify blue for other wayfinding or regulatory markings, so it's worth confirming exact colour requirements with the local authority before starting a job.

How is this paint reduced or cleaned up?

This is a waterborne formula, so it reduces and cleans up with water. That simplifies equipment maintenance and keeps job sites free of harsh solvent odours compared to solvent-based traffic paints.

How long does this paint take to dry?

Without beads, it reaches a no-pickup condition in under 10 minutes at 15 mils under standard conditions. With glass beads applied at 6 lbs per gallon or more, it dries to a no-track condition in under 2 minutes at 15 mils, or under 3 minutes at a 25-mil application.

How much coverage does one gallon provide?

One gallon covers approximately 320 linear feet of 4-inch stripe at 15 mils wet film thickness, or 400 linear feet at 12 mils.

Can this paint be used in cold weather?

This waterborne formula performs best between 35°F and 120°F (2°C to 49°C). In colder climates like Alberta, that generally limits application to late spring through early fall. For colder conditions, a solvent-based traffic paint is the better option.

    Is this paint low VOC?

Yes, VOC content comes in below 100 g/L, well under the 150 g/L federal maximum, which can matter for projects with air quality compliance requirements.

What surfaces can this paint be applied to?

It performs equally well on both asphalt and concrete, provided the surface is clean, dry, and properly prepped before application.
